Nike has driven a new global offense to move simpler, with more purpose, at the speed of the consumer across our Global, Geo and City Network. This has created many focus areas for the brand to accelerate new opportunities for growth and build stronger consumer relationships whilst driving better engagement with our members.
One area of focus is Story Design.
As we accelerate the growth of our EMEA marketplace, we are looking to build new retail concepts and elevate member-led services across an expanding fleet rollout. This drives a need for more internal resources to deliver the expansion plan. We are looking at a cross section of roles- from Story Design, Store Design, Layout Planning and Project Management- to bolster our internal retail design team, and we will be recruiting rigorously over the next few months to deliver against our new objectives.
As a Brand Creative Story Design Director based within the Nike European Brand Creative Studio at EHQ, you will deliver work that aligns with both the Retail Design Strategy and EMEA Brand Creative functional goals.
You are a strategic team leader within the Story and Retail Design team reporting in to the Senior Story Design Director, to lead creative within the Story design team and collaborate in the creative development of innovative retail store environments and programs.
Your design solutions will reflect Nike's design ethos and enhance the consumer retail experience. Integrating and completing design strategy, you provide appropriate business, design, consumer led and culturally relevant storytelling within the context and parameters necessary.
You provide leadership, mentorship, and creative direction within your EMEA design team and form strong relationships with Nike Global Retail Design.
You provide vision, strategic direction, and design continuity to ensure project goals and priorities align with retail business strategies. Leading a team of multidisciplinary designers across multiple projects, you will work closely with Store Design, Layout Planning, Nike Direct, Retail Marketing, Nike Direct and Construction to deliver crafted, innovative retail design experiences. Your confidence in communication and presentation of design concepts to all levels of management will be outstanding.
The work will be varied and will involve working on briefs that deliver against our consumer direct offense. You will:
- Collaborate in the creative vision and concepting of innovative, original retail storytelling environments -2D, 3D and digital- to reflect Nike's design ethos and enhance the consumer retail experience.
- Enhance the delivery of meaningful service engagement and membership strategies aligned to global retail creative direction.
- Strive under pressure to be positively and emotionally engaged. You need to be extremely proficient in matrix navigation and negotiating multiple partners. You demonstrate enterprise thinking at a broad level while simultaneously sweating the details at an execution level.
The expectation is for you to elevate and strengthen premium, purposeful retail design for our consumer. Collaborating with Story peers, Retail Design counterparts and various functions, you ensure project design continuity across all areas of focus.
In collaboration with key partners and creative leadership within Brand Creative Store Design team and Nike Direct, you drive globally leading store design to improves business opportunities and meaningful retail experiences of the brand. You collaborate in the creative vision and concepting of innovative, original retail Nike storytelling retail environments -2D, 3D and digital- to reflect Nike's design ethos and enhance the consumer retail experience.
Your role will be one of the most integral to our Nike Direct Marketplace Offense and will include collaboration with Senior Leadership on an EMEA level right through to day-to-day liaison with our teams in EMEA and Global where appropriate.
The shape of your day-to-day leadership will vary significantly, and therefore your style and influence will have to adapt accordingly. But always it must be collaborative and intuitive, seeking new and innovative ways to improve the efficiency of individual as well as collective thinking.
You will multiply the opinions and expertise of those you engage to lead to new opportunities through the application of coherent thinking and strategy.

- A minimum of 8+ years design experience in brand design strategy or the retail design industry.
- At least 3 years of management experience.
- Proven outstanding ability to apply & perform design skills- including visualization, storytelling, graphic design, communication hierarchy, color theory, use of texture/materials, and basic graphic design artwork execution/creation.
- Demonstrated application of these skills in innovative ways that elevate brand excellence, with a comprehensive knowledge of design processes and building of narrative.
- Advanced knowledge of relevant computer software.
- Experience and passion for executional detail to make innovative ideas a reality
- Knowledge and sensitivity to trends influencing design via graphic design, materiality, image making and typography
- Strong verbal and written English communication/presentation skills. Ability to effectively communicate complex and/or sensitive topics and concepts to senior creative team. Ability to develop influential and collaborative relationships across teams, functions, and geographies.
- Ability to travel 30% within Europe.
- Exposure to and in-depth understanding /interest in consumer behavior globally and within EMEA
- Strong supervisory skills with the desire to develop and mentor a team. Able to motivate others, handle ambiguity, and effectively collaborate in decision-making.
