JOB MISSION

This is a brand new role joining New Balance at an exciting time of extensive growth. Based in our Amsterdam office you will be responsible for all Operations for Retail stores across the EMEA region. We're looking for a driven individual who has progressed their career within the retail industry. This role requires frequent travel to our stores across Europe, on average 2-3 trips per month. Managing a Team of 6 you must be motivated and keen to pass on your passion to colleagues across EMEA.

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Drive profitable top line growth by integrating new store units and maintaining existing business according to strategic plan.
  • Ensure a consistent New Balance experience across all store formats - flagship, experience, lighthouse and outlets.
  • Builds credible and effective working relationships across the wider business to facilitate the smooth operations of the retail business.
  • Embodies New Balance's core values of total customer satisfaction, team work, and integrity and drives this through the retail business. Demonstrates Responsible Leadership by ensuring that Store Teams are connected back to Corporate Head Quarters and are aligned with company philosophy and strategies.
  • Full Profit and Loss responsibility for all stores across EMEA with key metrics of Profit, Sales, Conversion, Shrinkage, Units Per Transaction and Average Sale
  • Responsible for sales forecasts and budget plans for stores
  • Owner of the Retail game changer developing and administer written policies, procedures and systems for all store operations including cash, inventory control, accounting, security, points of sale training and product training utilising best practice and global NB practice.
  • Ensure effective day to day store operations across the region by providing clear direction to and day to day management of the Store Operations Team and ensuring compliance with our retail operations standards.
  • Ensure utmost priority is given to customer service through associate training and appropriate focus
  • Responsible for the recruitment and effective onboarding of associates for new stores as part of the overall new store development plan. Responsible for supporting existing regional managers with their team recruitment and headcount planning.
  • Work closely with HR Business Partner on people management with strong focus on developing the talent within the entire retail team to allow for individual and team growth, succession planning and manage risk for key positions.
  • Providing ongoing coaching and mentoring to the retail team and act as role model for future talent.
  • Overall responsibility for facilities management and health and safety aspects for each store
  • Planning and executing new store Grand Opening events, working with all areas of the business
  • Collaboration with and input to all areas of the business as required eg:
    • GM DTC for strategy on maturing retail model including store operations, business process, talent, customer journey, store design
    • EMEA Store Development Manager on rolling out new stores
    • Merchandising team on the seasonal merchandising plans, buys, markdown plans
    • Marketing team on marketing plans/calendars/media planning
    • HR on people performance and development
    • IT with Technology Roadmap
    • Loss Prevention and Finance on regular stores audits
    • Health & Safety on new store openings and audit findings
Travel and Meetings

  • Travel to stores across the region on a regular schedule
  • Administer monthly/quarterly/annual meetings with team to ensure:
    • Targets are on track - sales, profit, AVT, UPT etc
    • Promote the ongoing development of a positive and collaborative culture
    • Measure the pulse of store staff - keeping lines of communication open in the field
    • Support and coach managers
    • Provide decisions if needed

Profiel

REQUIREMENTS FOR SUCCESS:

  • Proven experience in a Retail Operations Management role gained from working across Europe
  • Results driven leader - good judgement, able to make sound decisions, take accountability, drives self and others to succeed
  • Strong people management skills - driving performance through people, raising the bar
  • Able to prioritise workload, plan effectively and multi task as needed with strong attention to detail
  • Highly collaborative in working in partnership with others and excellent communication and influencing skills
  • Able to manage in a constantly changing environment and lead any change within the retail team
  • Able to travel UK & Europe
  • Fluent in English essential and other European languages would be advantageous
  • Highly numerate and able to assimilate data quickly and accurately
